While overall wellness would like to be obtained by many, few take the initiative to alter their lifestyles to accommodate for such a goal. Our guide below describes the seven dimensions of wellness and the factors necessary to consider in order to achieve overall wellness.

Physical
Health related components such as cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility all play a major role in determining physical wellness. The six motor skill-related components are Agility, Coordination, Speed, Balance, Reaction Time, and Power.

Mental

Often called Intellectual Wellness, an application in new experiences, awareness of beliefs and values, and a "reserve of energy," so that one can be open-minded, curious, and respectful are all keys to mental wellness. Also, mental wellness is proven to have an effect on one's self-confidence and view of their abilities.

Social
Social wellness focuses on a positive self image, including respectfulness, honesty, and loyalty towards others. An interest in humanity and environment is also a factor.

Enviromental
Often grouped with Social Wellness, this consists of a sense of responsibility for the welfare of the environment, as well as a connection with one's surroundings.

Occupational
This results from the work setting being perceived as rewarding. The occupation can bring excitement, skill-development, recognition, sense of teamwork, and various types of social support.

Spiritual
This results in freedom, faith, love, closeness to others, peace, joy, and fulfillment. It is associated with better health, less distress, and a higher quality of life. Altruism, true concern for the welfare of others, is also associated with Spiritual Wellness.

Emotional
Stability plays a key role in this form of wellness, the ability to enjoy success and keep a logical perspective on failure is critical. Happiness which is derived from a sense of meaning from day to day, positive relationships including giving and receiving love, and freedom from pervasive tension/depression sits front row for this form of wellness.
